In this article, we will discuss PTE Repeat Sentence questions of the PTE Speaking section. Initially, The repeat sentence questions seem pretty easy at first glimpse. However, That’s not the case.

The candidate will be provided with an audio clip of a short sentence of 4 to 10 seconds; The candidate has to listen to the audio and repeat the sentence loudly. There can be 10 to 16 words in each sentence.

Looks easy, right?

But it isn’t; PTE Repeat Sentence is not only your pronunciation test but also a memorizcing test. Generally, a normal human being can memorize short pieces of information in their brain.

How PTE Repeat Sentence Score Works?

Most of the PTE Speaking questions are provided to test your oral fluency, pronunciation, and content delivery. In PTE Repeat Sentence, these are the main three factors to mark your scores.

Let’s start with content.

Content: it determines your marks by testing the content you have delivered by repeating the sentence, below are the score marking you can get on this task.

  • All words in the response of the audio clip are in the proper sequence (3 points)
  • At least 50% of words in the response of the audio clip are in the appropriate sequence (2 points)
  • Less Than 50% of words in the response of the audio clip are in the proper sequence (1 point)
  • No response (0 points)

Note: if you didn’t speak a complete phrase, you would be only given 2 points ( for 50% words) doesn’t matter if you missed one word only. Or else, you have spoken less than 50%, and you will be provided only 1 point for the content delivery.

The other pronunciation and oral fluency points will be combined before the final score.

Tips For PTE Repeat Sentence

  • Focus Carefully to listen to the audio; you don’t want to miss any single word.
  • Avoid using fillers such as ‘umm’, ‘err’ e.t.c, as it will negatively affect your marks
  • Do not fumble while speaking/repeating.
  • Use Correct Intonation while repeating the sentence
  • To improve your pronunciation and oral fluency, you can listen to an English podcast to practice.
  • Practice with your speaking partner. If you don’t have any partner nearby so you can practice in front of a mirror
  • Follow the sequence of the clip provided,
  • Do not skip words, and if you can’t recall the complete audio clip, you can repeat the words you understand from the clip.
